Discover Martinique in a new light

Follow the getaway of Nadia D. Director, Web Commercialization at Transat

Imagine yourself landing in Martinique for a long weekend. This country is a blend of nature, flavors, and contrasting landscapes, from pristine beaches to lush mountains. With plenty of options and limited time, explore the impressive biodiversity to the fullest. Here are some tips to make the most of it.
  • Trois-Îlets and Grande Anse d’Arlet

Stay in Les Trois-Îlets. Located almost at the center of the island, it’s the ideal starting point for exploring both the North and the South. Plus, the bay view is incomparable.
Stop at Grande Anse d’Arlet. Beyond its iconic church, its beach is lined with crystal-clear waters of remarkable clarity. Moreover, its covered market, Man Jérôme, offers a colorful mix of spices, clothing, and local crafts.
  • Head towards Cap Diamant and Jardin de Balata

Take a break at Chill Restaurant on the way to the renowned Cap Diamant. Situated right on the beach, let yourself be lulled by the sound of the waves and enjoy the spectacle of kite surfers while savoring unique dishes that blend French and Creole cuisines.
Explore Jardin de Balata. Only 10 minutes from downtown Fort-de-France, this tropical oasis is home to nearly 3000 species of exotic plants. The suspended bridge offers breathtaking views of Mont Pelée, and you might even spot nonchalant tarantulas wandering the shaded paths.

  • Visit Village de la Poterie before you leave

In addition to its pottery shops and workshops, the village offers activities such as karting or kayaking. You can also visit the Museum of the Sea or enjoy a variety of local and international cuisines.

Good to know

Presence of Sargassum in Mexico and the Caribbean
Depending on the weather conditions, winds and tides may bring large quantities of Sargassum to shore. Since seaweed moves with the ocean currents, quantities may vary by place and day. Transat would like to inform its clients that this natural phenomenon beyond its control affects several parts of Mexico and the Caribbean. Although the presence of this brown seaweed is greater than usual, our hotel partners are making every effort to clean the beaches when necessary.
