The best of Berlin

Cheers to a city rich in history, character and culture

Whether you are a first-time tourist or a returning visitor, the city of Berlin and its inhabitants will always make you feel welcome. The capital of Germany is a magnificent mix of history, both dark and hopeful, great architecture, and unique neighbourhoods.

Not to be missed

  • Berlin Wall: Originally measuring 155 km in length, the Berlin Wall cut through the middle of the city during the Cold War. Torn down in 1989, travellers can now discover the East Side Gallery, the longest surviving stretch of the Wall, adorned with murals, graffiti and personal musings.

  • Mitte neighbourhood: The city's central borough is home to Berlin's top attractions, including the UNESCO World Heritage site, Museum Island, encircled by the River Spree. Explore its grand terraces and enjoy world-class shopping nearby. The Brandenburg Gate, a neoclassical masterpiece, now stands as the symbol of Germany's reunification, while Alexanderplatz remains one of the city's most vibrant public squares.

  • Biergarten: Germany is famous for its beer gardens, and the ones in Berlin have a unique charm. On a sunny summer day, it's a great way to meet locals while enjoying local beers and delicious food under the shade of large trees, whether at a traditional riverside beer garden or one of the many trendy outdoor pubs in the capital.
