Honduras Travel Guide

  • Sunshine and Mayan ruins in Central America

Tourism in Honduras is booming. Vacationers book flights to this beautiful Central American country for a holiday where sunhat, bathing suit, sunglasses and sunscreen are as befitting on visits to historical sites as they are on the beach..

With more than 760 km of beaches on the Caribbean and the Pacific sides, sun worshippers get their fill here. The country is made up of majestic mountains, tropical forests, wild rivers and rich fauna. Its beaches are sparsely populated and its coral reefs abundant.

Discover Honduras

  • Tegucigalpa

The streets of Honduras’s capital are narrow, winding and flanked by hills. Lovely old pastel-coloured houses are very typical and as nice as their inhabitants.

  • The Mayan ruins

Fabulous Mayan ruins can be found at Copán. The picturesque colonial towns, Santa Rosa de Copán and Gracias, await visitors in the south of Honduras.
  • Colonial relics

In central and eastern Honduras, between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, is Comayagua, an old colonial capital. Any trip to the south should include a visit to Pespire, a well-preserved colonial town.

  • Beaches, Islas de la Bahía and Roatán

Honduras has some superb beaches and islands: from Omoa in Puerto Cortés, to La Ceiba, more colonial Trujillo, and Tela. Divers head out to Islas de la Bahía and especially to Roatán to swim amid the magnificent coral reefs.
