Changes to our baggage policy

Changes have been made to our Eco Budget (or Promo) and Eco Standard fares for flights to and from the South, the United States and domestic flights within Canada. These changes do not apply to vacation packages or reservations made before February 11, 2025.

Eco Budget fare (or Promo*)

Carry-on baggage is no longer permitted with the fare. Only a personal item is included.

Personal item maximum dimensions: 43 cm  or 17 inches in length, 13 cm or 5 inches in width and 31 cm or 12 inches in height.

Eco Standard fare

Checked baggage is no longer included in the fare. One piece of carry-on baggage and one personal item are permitted on board.

Carry-on baggage maximum dimensions: 40 cm or 15.5 inches in length, 23 cm  or 9 inches in width and 55 cm or 21.5 inches in height. Personal item maximum dimensions: 43 cm  or 17 inches in length, 13 cm or 5 inches in width and 31 cm or 12 inches in height.

It is still possible to add checked baggage to all fares. For more details, consult our Weight and Dimensions page.

*The Promo fare includes the same benefits as the Eco Budget fare, but at a lower price.

¯Questions - Answers: Baggage policy

  • These changes will apply only to our flights to and from the South (except Peru), the United States, and domestic flights within Canada.
    These changes will not apply to flights to and from Europe, Morocco, or Peru.

  • The changes to our baggage policy will apply only to flights. Customers who have booked an all-inclusive vacation package in Economy Class will still be allowed to bring:

    • One personal item
    • One carry-on bag
    • One checked bag
  • No, it will not be possible to add a carry-on bag to your reservation. Customers travelling on an Eco Budget (or Promo) fare will need to check their baggage and pay the applicable fees (available on our Baggage - Weight and dimensions page).

  • No, adding a carry-on bag to your reservation will not be possible at the airport. If you bring a carry-on bag that is not included in your reservation, you will need to check it and pay the applicable fee. You will not be allowed to keep it with you in the cabin.

  • No, the new baggage policy will apply only to bookings made from February 11 onward. Reservations made before this date will retain the baggage allowance in effect at the time of purchase.

  • No, the Option Plus inclusions will remain unchanged. Option Plus includes one additional checked bag, priority services, standard seat selection, and various onboard perks such as a comfort kit, headphones, an alcoholic beverage, and a snack.

  • No, the new baggage policy will not impact the transport of pets in the cabin.

  • No, medical equipment will still be accepted as carry-on baggage, as long as it meets the permitted dimensions 23 x 40 x 55 cm (9 x 15.5 x 21.5 in).

  • A musical instrument can still replace the carry-on bag when included in your reservation.
    However, if you are travelling on an Eco Budget (or Promo) fare, you will not be allowed to bring a musical instrument into the cabin. Instead, it must be checked, and the applicable baggage fees will apply.

  • One stroller (or foldable wagon) and one car seat or booster seat are allowed per baby or child under these conditions:

    • If travelling on an Eco Budget (or Promo) fare, compact and foldable strollers (or foldable wagons) will not be allowed in the cabin but can be checked free of charge.
    • If travelling on an Eco Standard, Eco Flex, Club Standard of Club Flex fare, compact and foldable strollers (or foldable wagons) may be brought into the passenger cabin and will count as your carry-on baggage.

    For all fare types, parents or guardians may bring a diaper bag with essentials for the flight duration, in addition to their carry-on baggage allowance (if applicable).

  • Yes, if you modify your reservation after February 11, the new baggage policy will apply.

  • For connections to Europe, Morocco, or Peru: Customers travelling on an Eco Budget (or Promo) fare will be allowed to bring one carry-on bag.
    Example: A passenger on a Montreal–London flight with a connection in Toronto will be allowed to bring a carry-on bag on all flight segments.

    For connections to the South, Florida, or domestic flights within Canada: Customers travelling on an Eco Budget (or Promo) fare will not be allowed to bring a carry-on bag.
    Example: A passenger on a Montreal–Cancún flight with a connection in Toronto will not be allowed to bring a carry-on bag on any flight segment.
