Flex Pay : monthly payment solution

Flex Pay is a monthly payment program available for the purchase of flights (minimum purchase of $49 USD and maximum of $15,000 USD). Financing may be offered on 3, 6, 9, 11 months of fixed monthly payments.

Frequently asked questions

  • To qualify for Flex Pay monthly payments, the following requirements must be met:

    • You must have an American mobile phone number with smartphone capability.
    • The flight price must be at least $49 USD.
    • You must purchase the flight at least 24 hours before departure.
    • You must be an American resident (including Puerto Rico resident) and over the age of 18. Citizens of certain states like Iowa and West Virginia are not eligible for this financing plan on our platforms.
    • The financing plan is not available for air-only flights to Cuba.
    • When you book your trip, select “Pay monthly” as the payment method at checkout.
    • Fill out a no-commitment financing request from Flex Pay to receive a loan decision immediately without leaving airtransat.com. The request will take a few minutes to complete and will consist of these five steps:
      1. Enter information requested by Flex Pay: You will be asked to provide some personal information, including your name, address, email, phone number, date of birth, Social Security Number and annual income.
      2. Confirm loan eligibility: Flex Pay will then proceed with a soft check of your loan eligibility. This verification will not affect your credit score.
      3. Receive Flex Pay loan decision (accepted or refused): Within seconds, you will receive a response and the exact amount of the monthly payments, if accepted. 
      4. Accept loan terms and conditions: You will be asked to accept the terms of the loan agreement.
      5. Finalize agreement: Your transaction will not be completed until you click “Pay now.”
    • Once your booking is complete, Flex Pay will proceed to pay for your entire trip.
    • Air Transat will then send you a confirmation email indicating that the booking has been made and the loan issued by Flex Pay. The email will also include the amount paid. Flex Pay will also send you a loan confirmation email.
    • You will then be responsible for making fixed monthly payments, based on your purchase date, until the loan is paid.
    • There are no pre-payment restrictions or penalties. You may increase payments or pay the entire loan at any time.
    • Payment for the first month must be made at the time of booking, either directly from your bank account or via Visa Debit/Debit Mastercard. Well qualified applicants may be offered the option to book with $0 Down. In this case, the first payment is due in 30 days.
    • Once the initial payment is made, the balance is then divided into equal monthly payments.
  • If your loan request is denied, you are informed on screen and an SMS/text message is sent to your mobile with a link to view additional information on their decision. Flex Pay will provide the name of a credit reporting agency to access your credit history.

    You could also complete your booking by choosing one of two other options:

    • Another qualified traveller on your booking may apply for the Flex Pay loan on airtransat.com, in which case the booking process will have to be started again from the beginning.
    • You could pay with an alternate method (e.g., credit card).
    • Flex Pay is responsible for all questions related to payments and loans. You can contact their daily (including statutory holidays) customer service between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM Eastern time, by calling them toll-free at 1 (844) 257-5400 or emailing them at customercare@upgrade.com.
    • You could also check the balance of your loan at any time by logging into your Flex Pay Monthly account at upgrade.com/pay.
    • You must first contact Air Transat at 1 (877) 872-6728 or 514 636-3630 to cancel or modify your booking.
    • Transat will then proceed with the cancellation or modification according to its terms and conditions.
    • If a refund is applicable, funds will be sent to Flex Pay, who will then issue you a refund.
    • The entire process can take up to 7-10 days from the date of cancellation or modification.
    • Trips cancelled after 24 hours may not be eligible for reimbursement of applicable fees and accrued interest.

Flex Pay is responsible for calculating the interest rate on its loans.
