Power Outages in CubaOctober 20, 2024

Due to a nationwide power outage, Transat and Air Transat are offering travellers heading to Cuba between October 20 and October 22, 2024, a flexible policy allowing them to modify their travel reservations if booked before October 18 at 11:59 PM.

All Cuban airports served by Air Transat are open and operating, either with electrical power or through generators. Our flights continue as scheduled, although some hotel services may be temporarily unavailable.

We offer you the following options:

  1. Travel as Planned

    You have the option to maintain your trip as originally scheduled, provided that our flights are operational. However, if you choose to travel, no refunds or compensation will be granted in the event of interruptions due to the current situation.

  2. Change Your Departure Date or Destination

    You may change your departure date or destination to another destination served by Transat and Air Transat, with no change fees. If the new flight or package selected is more expensive than the originally planned one, you will need to pay the difference.

  3. Cancel for a Travel Credit Refund

    If you decide not to travel, you can cancel your reservation and receive a full refund in the form of a non-transferable travel credit (excluding any paid travel insurance premiums and Option Flex Standard and Option Flex Extra fees), which will be valid for one year from the originally scheduled departure date and can be applied to any purchase of products offered by Transat and Air Transat.

If you purchased your services from another tour operator, we encourage you to check the flexibility options they offer.

Customers wishing to take advantage of this flexibility policy should contact our contact center if the reservation was booked directly with Transat or Air Transat or their travel agency if the trip was booked with them. Please note that when power is restored in the regions we serve, this flexibility policy will be withdrawn.
