The Albufera Natural Park is Spain’s largest lagoon and the birthplace of the paella. This urban oasis, just 10 km from the city, is ideal for picture-perfect sunsets and exciting boat trips. Walk along one of the six signposted routes through the nature reserve before enjoying a delicious paella at one of the many restaurants nearby. 

El Carmen is Valencia’s best-known neighbourhood and a paradise for lovers of Mediterranean cuisine and history. Venture into the labyrinthine cobbled streets of El Carmen where you will find medieval buildings, palaces, plazas, boutiques, and restaurants. For a more modern ambiance, stroll along Calle de Moret, a large open-air art gallery full of street art. 

The Fallas Festival, the most important event of the year, occurs every March. Papier-mâché figures are paraded through the city, then burned in bonfires, and, in the evening, crowds gather to watch fireworks. The Great July Fair of Valencia (Gran Feria de Valencia) is a month when the city offers numerous activities, from outdoor concerts to fireworks displays by the sea. La Tomatina is a food fight festival held on the last Wednesday of August each year in the town of Buñol.
