Nicknamed La Ville Rose (“The Pink City”) due to its abundance of architecture made of terracotta pinkish bricks, Toulouse is a true gem. Musée des Augustins: This fabulous museum of fine art houses collections from Roman times to the 20th century. The best rooms are reserved for French masters such as Delacroix, Toulouse-Lautrec and Monet.
Cité de l’Espace: Exhibits include a chunk of moon rock and an exact replica of the MIR Space Station that visitors can climb into. Visitors can also try the Moon Runner, a moonwalk simulator that replicates the lightness astronauts feel—is a universal favorite.
Place du Capitole: This magnificent square is the heart and soul of La Ville Rose.
