Samaná is characterized by its gently mountainous landscape, lush vegetation, sandy beaches and tiny islets. A flight to this peninsula in the Dominican Republic reveals a host of things to see and do under the hot Caribbean sun.
The port: Travellers can find a pretty little port in Samaná Bay, where there’s also a very colourful public market that’s perfect for getting to know the local artisans.
Whales: Samaná is renowned for its humpback whale watching. From January to March, tourists can choose from several excursions to these magnificent mammals’ mating grounds.
Avenida La Marina: In the evening, tourists leave their hotels to stroll along Avenida La Marina or enjoy a drink on one of the inviting patios. The avenue that runs along the Malecon de Samaná becomes animated and festive at the end of the day, making it hard to resist the urge to dance bachata!
