In downtown Toronto, no visit is complete without a trip to the CN Tower. Standing 553 metres, the tower offers amazing views of the city (on a clear day, one can even see Niagara Falls). But the best view may be from the glass floor—especially for those who get a thrill from heights.

Those looking to indulge in a bit of retail therapy can do so at Toronto Eaton Centre. This spectacular shopping centre in the heart of the city houses over 230 stores and restaurants, as well as one of the most beautiful squares in town.

Travellers who have come this far should go a little further and make the short trip from Toronto to Niagara Falls. One can either drive the 90 minutes to get there or book a local tour instead. Once on site, visitors can choose whether to take in the view from the sidelines, or board a boat and get up close to experience the Falls’ power. Beyond the waterfall, Niagara-on-the-Lake is full of superb wineries that offer tours and tastings. The town also plays host to the Shaw Festival, which features a diverse mix of theatre productions celebrating the works of famous Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw.

An older but equally impressive point of interest is Casa Loma—a stunning Gothic-style house, originally home to financier Sir Henry Mill Pellatt. Nestled in the north end of the city, it’s one of Canada’s only castles and a museum that details Toronto life in the early 20th century. Other top-notch museums include the Royal Ontario Museum, which houses impressive collections dedicated to world culture and natural history, as well as the Art Gallery of Ontario, whose fine art collections and exhibitions are sure to astound even the most seasoned connoisseur.
